Forget me LOTS!

Tonight I had a last minute gig at Opening Bell Coffee in Dallas. I got called about 5 days, the owner saying he was desperate for a local opener because someone had cancelled on him last minute. I’ve been eager to get my foot in the door at this venue so of course I took the chance to play, but this “last minute-ness” apparently set the tone for the state of my mind during this entire experience.

When I arrived at the gig I had forgotten, of all things, my PIANO STAND! The thing that holds up my PIANO!! That’s the instrument I play! duh! Luckily this venue is super awesome and they miraculously had an extra keyboard stand just lying around….score!

Next up, I decide to dial up some Dallas friends real quick and invite them to the show. I know that seems very last minute to call people when I get to the venue, but like I said, I didn’t have much to time prepare for this gig so I figured, “better late than never.” So I reach into my purse to begin the dialing and I realize…I forgot MY PHONE! The one thing I use to contact people! The thing I tell people to call if they get lost trying to get to my gigs! What a nerd!!!!!

Oh well, time to move on. As many of you know this gig was another stop on my indie coffee shop tour, and so of course I wanted to take a few pictures to post on my sites to document the event. So I reach inside my purse to grab my camera (it was there!!!) and then go to turn it on and….NO BATTERIES!! I was charging my batteries at home before the gig and neglected to put them back in my camera, ahhhhhhhhh! ( I am now 3 for 3 on the forgetful front)!

Despite all these brainless shenanigans, we had a great show. I shared the stage with two other wonderful singer/songwriters and you can look them up if you are so inclined:

Next stop on the indie coffee tour is Crooked Tree Coffeehouse in Dallas on Saturday August 8th, hope you can be there!
