small album update!

Hey everybody!
Just wanted to give you a small album update since I haven’t posted anything new in awhile. (and make sure you read the article about my project in the newest 50K mag!)

At this point I have had my budget approved by HQ and have decided on a recording studio and producer. I will be recording at Coda Record House here in the USA and will be working with Riley Friesen as my head producer. I met Riley and the team at Coda a few months back when I was selected to be a part of a campaign, and we really clicked. I am confident that will be able to help me make an album that will WOW you!!

At this point I am sending Riley and the other guys all (and I mean ALL) of my demos that I’ve made since the release of Lockless Heart. So far I’ve sent them 19 songs to check out.

I have decided on increasing the number of songs that will be on this project to 12, instead of 10, so I hope you are excited about that!!

I will be scheduling a pre-production session sometime in June or July to go into the studio with them and start making some decisions about arrangements, song choices, etc. I am also in the process of recruiting my studio session musicians.

Very soon I would like to set up contact and start working with a full time manager or booking agent to help me organize the tour to follow the album. If anybody has some contacts or names of people that you’d like to pass along (especially if they are here in the US) I would appreciate any tips you have!

Nebraska WARRIOR!

We had a FANTASTIC long weekend in Nebraska making a pro recording of my song “Warrior” for the TUNE campaign!

This campaign will feature 8 artists all that have had songs selected that promote positive lifestyle choices to young people. I was selected to be one of the eight artists back in December and then hit the studio Jan 1st-3rd doing a video interview for the TUNE website and making the track. The guys liked my demo so much that they used several elements from the original demo (sweet!) but they made some dramatic and incredible additions that have really transformed this track into something that I truly amazing!

Friday night we talked through logistics for the weekend, Saturday morning I did the video interview and we added beats, drums, bass and guitar into the mix. My brother Cole came to the studio with me and recorded the bass for the track!) Sunday morning/afternoon we tracked lead and background vocals as well as started adding in some amazing synth parts. The final mix probably won’t be ready for a couple weeks, but I am just dying to share it with you! I’ll post is as soon as I get a copy of it!

Lots of Big News going on lately!

#1. I have been selected as 1 of 8 artists to represent the TUNE campaign. I was selected for my song “Warrior” and as a part of this campaign I will have the opportunity to make a professional studio recording of the song as well as be involved in some promotional video. TUNE is funded by a federal grant to the state of Nebraska to encourage young people to make positive life choices.

#2. Things on SellaBand have been going GREAT!!! Thanks to the help of my faithful believers, supporters and investors, we have now raised over $30,000 towards my next album! awesome! The goal is 50K, but things are really starting to move fast now, so get in while you can!

#3. I have been VERY busy with gigs last week and this week, so I just wanted to give you a little report on what I’ve been up to. Last Friday I played at a coffee shop in Austin and get to catch up with some great friends! (pictures below!) and then the following Saturday I played at a wine tasting and networking club in Dallas. I made some great contacts at this event that I hope will lead to alot of high exposure gigs this spring. The next day (Sunday) I was invited to perform some special music at a church and then the next day I played Christmas music for a party luncheon. woah! 4 gigs in 4 days wears me out!

This next week I have a show tonight (Thurs) at Java Me Up in Irving, and a show Saturday at Roots in North Richland Hills (both Christmas music themed) and then Sunday I’ll be doing some special music for another Christmas celebration. On Tuesday I’m leaving for a week to visit family in North Carolina, thank goodness for a little break!!!

Primo!

Thanks to everyone who came out to my gig last night at Primo Coffee and Tea in Arlington!

I really loved playing this venue. The owner and staff were super nice, the acoustics are great for live music, and the coffee is fantastic! If you live anywhere near Arlington this place is a MUST for you to check out!

I also got to enjoy a nice dinner at sushi restaurant with some good friends before the show, what a night!!

Roots and Kraluz

I played at Roots Coffeehouse in North Richland Hills on October 23rd and I just wanted to thank everyone who stopped by to catch the show. Big thanks to Thad for bringing his whole family out and to Carol Drummond for bringing her whole extended family, we all had a great time!!

I’m also happy to report that my pre-ordering of the SellaBand album at the live shows is going well. I also wanted to take a moment to talk about a wonderful new friend and fan that I have recently met and tell you about the fabulous jewelry her mother makes. I met Tajana while playing at the Coppell Farmer’s Market and she was so friendly and helpful and has ever since been sending me great ideas for people to contact and places that I might be able to play around DFW. Tajana also shared with me that she is originally from Croatia and her mother, Dada, still lives there and makes beautiful handmade jewelry that she sells online. Tajana asked if I’d be willing to be their “customer of the month” to be featured on their website and generously donated me a necklace that I can wear when I perform. I had the opportunity to wear my necklace when I performed at Roots, and so I wanted to tell you a little bit about the piece to thank Tajana and her mother for such a beautiful gift, and also share with you some pictures and a link to Dada’s website if you’d like to check it out.
